How can I get started with Handy Homes?

Membership Plans provide predictable year-round house care at lower rates. Members are paired with a dedicated handyman who gets to know you and your home. We offer 6-month and 12-month plans—your commitment enables us to deliver quality care at discounted rates.

Membership Options
Hourly Service/Free Estimates:  Perfect for occasional projects or one-time tasks.  For projects requiring more than 4 hours we will provide you with a written estimate. Schedule visits as needed and pay $99.99 per hour.

Interior & Exterior Painting
We also provide full interior and exterior painting services. Members receive 12% discount on painting services.

Is Handy Homes Licensed and Insured?

Handy Homes is insured and bonded in New Jersey, and we hold $2 million in liability and full workers compensation coverage in each municipality or county as required by local regulations. We operate under NJ HIC# 13VH13115000

How do I keep track of my To-Do list?

Easily manage your tasks with our mobile app. Just tap the ➕ button on your Honey-Do List page or the Add Task button on the home screen to add new tasks.

Do I have to become a member to use your services?

What are some of the common tasks my handyman can handle?

Your HandyPro is skilled across many domains such as minor plumbing, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and general handywork around your home. Your HandyPro can typically complete over 90% of tasks themselves, most of which can be completed in under 2 hours.

When a job does require a specialist, we’ll connect you to the right vendor and can help with coordination, saving you valuable time, and providing peace of mind of a high quality specialist referral.

Are there services Handy Homes doesn’t provide directly?

Although we handle over 90% of member requests, there are some service that may require a specialist. Don’t worry, our Homeowner Success Team will make it a stress-free experience! We maintain, and regularly update, a panel of specialist partners who have proven to work to our high standard and to be reliable in terms of performance. The standard of our partner’s work is regularly assessed based on Handy Homes inspections and feedback from clients.  

Here are some examples of when we refer specialists: Junk removal, bathroom remodel, adding new electrical outlets, roof repairs, large drywall project, or help finding a licensed contractor for larger jobs.

Will Handy Homes shop for parts and materials?

Our vans are stocked with common supplies used for typical home repairs. If we need to shop for parts to complete an hourly job then the customer pays for the time to drive and shop for the needed parts.

For projects expected to take more than four hours, we typically offer a free estimate. That estimate will include the necessary materials unless you specifically tell us you will be supplying them.

If you choose to provide your own materials, please note that Handy Homes cannot take responsibility for issues that arise from customer-supplied items such as incorrect sizing, incompatibility, or product defects. If you’re unsure what to purchase, we recommend requesting a free estimate. In that case, we will supply the required parts and materials and take responsibility for the products we provide.

Does Handy Homes have a referral program?

Yes! Customers can receive a $100 credit for every new member they refer that signs up for a Handy Homes membership. The credit will be applied to their next invoice(s) from Handy Homes. You can access your unique referral code by clicking the More icon on the bottom menu of the app. Clicking Give $100, Get $100 will provide more details on the referral program and provide the ability to easily share the code.

Membership
How often will I see my HandyPro?

Annual members can choose between Lite Care (10 visits), and Complete Care (24 visits). Visits can be used flexibly over the course of one year. You can pre-book visits in advance if you like or you can pull time forward and backward as you like.  Each visit can be either a single visit (1 hour 45 minutes) or a double visit (3.5 hours). The last 10 minutes of every visit is devoted to clean up and task documentation in the app.

Single visits are best for small, simple tasks, while double visits are ideal for more complex projects with up to six tasks. Additional standard visits of 1 hour 45 minutes can be purchased any time for $200.

What preventative maintenance is performed?

Proactive home maintenance protects your home investment and ensures your family’s safety. Many homeowners don’t realize how often their home’s systems need attention—until something breaks. Our preventive maintenance program helps you stay ahead of potential issues and avoid costly repairs.

Handy Homes covers key areas of your home, including your Kitchen, Bathrooms, Electrical Systems, Plumbing Systems, Doors, Screens, and Mechanical Systems, such as dryer vent cleaning, water heater flushing, and backup generator maintenance.

Preventive maintenance is performed throughout the year. When it’s time for a visit, members receive a notification in the Handy Homes app to conveniently schedule a day and time that works for you. Most homes require 2–4 home care visits per year which are deducted from your plans allocated visits (see plans)All completed work is logged in your home’s profile, giving you a clear record of what’s been maintained and when.

How does the Home Care Plan handle my home's preventive maintenance?

You set up your Home Care Plan directly in the Handy Homes mobile app. The process takes about two minutes and lets you select the preventive maintenance tasks you want included. Every membership comes with proactive maintenance covering more than 30 home systems—including plumbing, electrical, dryer vents, doors, windows, and more.

You can also add exterior options such as gutter cleaning, power washing, window cleaning, and seasonal services like placing or stowing storm doors and outdoor items.

During your first visit, your HandyPro confirms the details by taking any needed measurements and photos. This finalizes your personalized plan and determines the number of visits required throughout the year.

Will my HandyPro assist with procuring parts and materials?

Your HandyPro will come prepared with basic parts needed for everyday small tasks (nails, basic caulk, etc). If you task requires other parts, you have the option of purchasing those yourself or having us research and purchase these on your behalf. If you choose the latter, we’ll add a nominal $10 shopping fee to cover the cost of researching and purchasing parts. This fee is fixed (not a percentage) and charged per visit requiring parts (not per part). For parts more than $100, we will also ask for approval to purchase in the app.

⭐ For parts and materials that you will be looking at or touching every day, such as new kitchen faucet, we recommend you pick out yourself. We are happy to assist with advice.

It's easy to get started, just sign up for a free, no-obligation Walk-Through (45 min) and you can meet your HandyPro, review what work you need done, and he can answer any questions you may have.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee.  If you’re not happy within the first 30 days (or 3.5 hours), we’ll fully refund you.  Simply reach out by phone or app or text and we’ll be happy to help you.

We very much appreciate feedback. We ask that you rate each visit afterwards in the app to help us quickly address issues and improve our service.

Can I transfer my membership?

Yes, you can transfer any remaining time on your membership to a new owner of your home, or you can take your membership to a new home if it’s within our service area.  Unfortunately, we are unable to provide credit or refunds.
